Turn a Blind Eye
What it means
Notice something wrong and deliberately act as though you have not.
Where it comes from
It is often credited to Nelson at Copenhagen in 1801, raising his telescope to his blind eye to ignore the order to retreat. Good story, and the phrase was already in use before he did it.
