Pop the Question

What it means

Ask someone to marry you, usually with far more nerves than the word pop suggests.

Where it comes from

Pop has meant doing something suddenly since the 1700s, and popping a question once meant any abrupt one. Marriage claimed it in the 1800s and has not given it back.

The puzzle it came from

Pop the Question was the answer to the Phrasicle of May 1, 2025. The clue read ____ the ____, and the words came out of a grid where every neighbouring pair makes a two-word phrase.
