Busy as a Bee
What it means
Constantly occupied, whether or not any of the occupation turns out to be useful.
Where it comes from
Chaucer used the comparison in the Canterbury Tales, so it is around six hundred years old. Worker bees do in fact rest, spending a good part of the day motionless.
The puzzle it came from
Busy as a Bee was the answer to the Phrasicle of May 27, 2025. The clue read ____ as a ____, and the words came out of a grid where every neighbouring pair makes a two-word phrase.
