How to Play
Phrasicle is a daily word-chain puzzle. Every row is a chain where each neighbouring pair of words makes a natural two-word phrase. Solve the chains, then solve the day's final phrase, the Phrasicle.
๐ฏ The objective
Fill each row with five words that link together, then use words from the completed grid to build the final phrase.
๐งฉ How it works
- The first and last word of every row are given to you.
- The first letter of the next word in the chain appears as you go. Clues reveal more letters.
- Links can be two-word phrases like chill out, compound words like sunflower or paperclip, or names like Tom Cruise.
- Type any word you spot into the box at the bottom. It drops into whichever slot it fits, wherever that slot is.
- You can also type the whole link. If a row reads paper then a blank, typing paper clip fills the blank.
- You get ten clues per puzzle. Tap a box first to aim them. 0โ3 clues ๐ฅ Gold, 4โ6 ๐ฅ Silver, 7โ10 ๐ฅ Bronze.
- Revealing the grid drops you straight to bronze, so hold out as long as you can.
- The Phrasicle is always a common saying built from words in the grid. If the clue reads at a and the grid gave you one, step and time, the answer is One Step at a Time. Type the whole phrase to solve it.
Example of a solved grid
โญ Stars
- Solving the final Phrasicle earns two stars โ โ .
- Completing the whole grid yourself, without Reveal Grid, earns one star โ .
- Do both for all three stars โ โ โ .
- The colour of your stars is set by your clue tier.
๐ Badges and tiers
Play daily and the badges stack up. No account needed: your record is kept in your own browser and shown on the tracker.
7-Day Streak โ play seven days in a row
21-Star Streak โ three stars, seven days in a row
Tier progression
- โจ Spark โ 0 to 20 badges
- ๐ก Glow Up โ 21 to 40 badges
- ๐ฅ Blaze โ 41 to 60 badges
- ๐ฏ Epic โ 61 to 80 badges
- ๐ Legend โ 81 or more badges
๐ก Tips
- Think in short phrases: paper clip, game plan, top hat.
- Work backwards from the given last word too. Only the next word in the chain shows you a letter, but any word you type lands in whatever slot it fits, so the last word is a second thing to pull on.
- Stuck on the grid? Try the Phrasicle first. Getting it often hands you the missing grid words.
๐ More hints
If the grid feels like guessing in the dark, tap More hints under the board, or turn them on from the menu. It is the same puzzle everyone else is playing, shown differently:
- Every blank shows its first letter from the start, so you can work a row from either end instead of strictly left to right.
- The number of letters in the corner of each box, so you always know how long the word is.
Nothing else changes. Same ten clues, same stars, same streak, same medals: ๐ฅ Gold is still there for the taking if you spend three clues or fewer. Turn the hints off again with the same button.
๐ Missing Link, the easier one
If the daily puzzle is too much, Missing Link is the same idea with the hard part taken out. You get the two ends of one chain and a pile of words, three of which belong in the middle. No typing, no clue budget, and a new one whenever you want it.
๐ค Stuck for good?
- Reveal grid fills everything in, but costs you the grid star and drops you to bronze. You can still take two stars by solving the phrase from the revealed words.
- Reveal the Phrasicle appears once the grid is done or revealed. It ends the puzzle and shows the answer. Remember the phrase is always built from words already in the grid, so mix and match before you give up.
